The Seven Ravens Book Cover Concept Explorations

  • Pen & Ink on Toned Paper

    The most revent iteration of the cover design. The character may still need some further evolution and I need to test out some colour.

  • Watercolour/ Pen & Ink

    Created in Procreate. This was one of the first iterations It's still hanging around. I like the cool blue wash.

  • Linocut Design

    This cover seems too busy. It was created in Clip Studio Paint and Procreate. This one will not be used.

  • Pen & Ink with Watercolour

    This concept is a little more minimalist. Again it still stands in the running for final, but the journey is far from over.

  • The Violent Approach

    This is an agressive concept created in Procreate. It's based on a bunch of random corvid photos I pulled for reference from the web.

  • Title Test

    Created in Procreate, I think the original sketch was completed in Clip Studio paint first. The type treatment works, but I feel the bird illustration is a little overpowering overall.
